The Expert Finance session is the first course in the Expert Series of Board Competency Training. This Finance session is targeted to those individuals who have a finance role within their PCN board, are members of an Audit Sub-Committee or are interested in becoming a Treasurer.
Some of the course learning outcomes for this session include (but are not limited to):
• Identify key areas of risk in financial statements,
• Examine the role of the external auditor and the audit process, and
• Analyze and assess key elements of financial statements and how they interrelate.
Participants will be given the opportunity to learn, using a hands-on approach, about PCN finances and AH requirements. You will then apply your knowledge by analyzing sample financial statements. You will also be asked to bring a sample of your own PCN financial statements as you will have an opportunity to learn how to analyze them effectively, and get assistance if needed. Please note that you will not be asked to share publicly your PCN’s financial information. What you choose to share (if anything), will be completely up to you.
It is highly recommended that registrants of the Expert Series have previously completed the Essentials Certificate.
