Option #2: First impressions: Knocking on Doors 101 (Ballroom #1)

It takes seven seconds, according to researchers from NYU, to make a first impression.  Since first impressions are crucial to winning a listing presentation or new client, why not improve your communication skills with this fun and interactive workshop!  An emphasis will be placed on hard and soft skill development, which is essential for a great first impression.

Bio: Ann Demarais, the founder of First Impressions, has more than 20 years of experience in  applied psychology, specializing in interpersonal communication, impression management, social skills, and executive coaching.  She works with senior executives who want to enhance their leadership impact as well as individuals who strive to grow their skills in the social world.  She is a consultant to the Social Intelligence Program at Columbia University Business School; her client list includes Verizon, Hilton Hotels, Disney, Bank of America, Xerox, CitiGroup, JPMorgan, and the FBI among others.  Ann is co-author of First Impressions: What You Don't Know About How Others See You, which was published by Random House and translated into 24 languages.  Ann holds a PhD. in Psychology from New York University.  For more information, please visit Ann's website

Bio: Andrea is a leading real estate industry voice on how digital marketing is transforming the way we think about client engagement.  Organizations look to help when developing their project branding, marketing campaigns and sales strategies for upcoming new build real estate developments.  By bridging the gap between technology and traditional marketing, Andrea is helping to shape the landscape for how real estate is purchased and sold locally, regionally, and globally.  Her clients include Streetside Developments, Qualico, and Birchwood Properties.

Prior to co-founding Blueprint Effects, Andrea held senior business development roles in finance, where she developed an understanding for complex products and service strategies.  Andrea is based in Toronto and is a graduate from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.

Bio: Colin is the Managing Director and co-founder of Blueprint Effects.  Throughout his career, Colin has worked with a variety of global clients including Tishman Speyer, Ascendas, ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority), Allied REIT, CBRE Investors, D.E. Shaw, and Colonial First State.  Colin's passion is digital sales optimization with the goal of helping his client generate more cost effective sales leads while substantially increasing their lead conversion rate.

Colin is based in Shanghai where he lives with his wife and young family.  He speaks fluent Chinese and is on the Alumni Board of Directors for the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University from where he obtained his HBA and MBA degrees.  Colin is also the Vice Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
