DH Graduate Certificate Program (U Victoria)

DH Graduate Certificate Program (U Victoria)

Registration for the Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities at UVic is open now, with the following application requirements:
  • a statement of intent
  • two letters of reference
  • either academic transcripts or evidence that you hold a faculty/librarian/educator or equivalent position
We have had overwhelming interest in the programme, with nearly 100 people pre-registered for what we initially thought of as a maximum of 30 spots. Rest assured, though, that we have adapted to the apparent demand and opened up sufficient sections to admit all those who meet the minimum requirements (a “B” average in courses, an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, and proficiency in English).

We have provided a two-week advance notice to all pre-registrants. Please visit www.uvic.ca/application as soon as possible to set up your profile and begin the application process. Remember: your programme entry date will be May 2015 (any sooner and you will have to pay additional fees) unless you attend UVic and will be counting courses this fall or spring towards the Certificate.

KEEP IN MIND that there are two parallel processes:
  1. a) apply for admission to the Certificate in DH through the UVic Graduate Admissions and Records web site
  2. b) sign up for classes through the DHSI.org web site
You must complete both processes to get credit.

You will be charged $1500 per course by UVic, plus a reduced DHSI fee (use discount code DH-Certificate when you register for DHSI courses to get the reduced rate). There is no charge to gain credit for courses completed previously through DHSI, DHWI/HILT, the Oxford Summer School, or the Digital Humanities Institute in Leipzig.

Please refer all questions to Stephen Ross (acting Director) at saross@uvic.ca

Thank you for your enthusiasm and interest, and we’ll see you in June!

The response to the Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities at UVic announced on Monday (2 June 2014) by our Provost, Reeta Tremblay, has been overwhelming.

Details of the program are now available in U Victoria’s 2014/2015 academic calendar, at http://web.uvic.ca/calendar2014-09/GRAD/GPROGS/Engl/PrRe.html#GCinDH, with registration anticipated to begin in September 2014 for a May 2015 start.

In response to the tremendous demand we’ve experienced already, we have put into place an expedited pre-registration process. If you would like to pre-register for one (or possibly more) DHSI courses for 2015 as part of the Graduate Certificate’s inaugural year, please complete this brief survey.

Pre-registration puts you on our mailing list for news related to the certificate, as it becomes available, and gives priority registration for the certificate, allowing certificate course registration in advance of general registration.  No fee or deposit is required until registration goes live in September.

The pre-registration period is now ended, and direct application and registration has begin.  Please see  http://english.uvic.ca/graduate/digital_humanities.html for more details.
